Smudge’s Devin Davies Goes Prime Time with Crouton App

A next-generation cooking app created for Apple's Vision Pro by Smudge team member Devin Davies has received global acclaim, including coverage in the Wall Street Journal and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

Created in Devin’s spare time, Crouton is a popular recipe organiser and meal planner that allows users to scan, save and store recipes. Crouton for Vision Pro is one of the first cooking apps for the new device, and has been described as “a new way to cook”.

“I started Crouton for myself and my family”, says Devin. “I genuinely had no idea it was going to take off like this. The last few months have been a whirlwind”.

Crouton for Vision Pro has several features specifically designed to let users interact with the app by seamlessly blending digital recipes, meal plans and timers with their physical kitchen space.

Following the coverage, Devin has been asked to share his expertise on the world stage. His next destination is Beijing, where he'll discuss the possibilities of developing for visionOS at a developer conference. The session, titled "iOS to visionOS: Preparing Your Apps for the Future”, will explore the technical challenges in shifting from iOS development to creating immersive experiences for Apple Vision Pro.

Devin’s insights at the conference will be useful for developers who are looking to push into the spatial computing space and maximise the potential of Apple’s new platform.

We're proud and excited for Devin to have the opportunity to share his expertise. Great work, Devin!
